Restarting 2025: Refocusing and Rebooting
Reconnecting with my goals and refocusing on the bigger picture.
January 11th, 2025 at 4:40 PM • Personal • 2 min read

So here I am, just 11 days into 2025, already picking up the pieces of my New Year’s resolutions. Not exactly how I imagined the start of this "year of transformation." What happened? Simple: life threw me a curveball in the form of the flu. And like a good Netflix binge, it completely derailed my plans.
The Flu Diaries
By January 8th, I was curled up in bed, surrounded by tissues, and questioning every life choice that got me there. The energy to work out, code, or even think about my big goals? Gone. The result? My projects—like my Python framework Flamework and my electronics experiments—went on an unplanned vacation.
But hey, the good news is I’m recovering! And now that I’m crawling out of my flu cocoon, it’s time to hit the reset button on 2025.
Refocusing on the Bigger Picture
Falling behind on resolutions isn’t the end of the world. If anything, it’s a chance to refocus. Instead of wallowing in missed days, I’m taking this as an opportunity to refine my approach.
What’s different this time? A clear game plan. I’ve decided to break my goals into manageable chunks with a goal timesheet—short-term wins to keep me motivated and long-term plans to keep my eyes on the prize. Think of it as my personal GPS for 2025, complete with pit stops for fun and “fuel-ups” when life gets tough.
The New Game Plan
-
Short-Term Wins:
- Get back to coding, even if it’s just an hour a day. Flamework will be revived, one line of code at a time.
- Ease into electronics by revisiting simple projects. Baby steps are still steps, right?
- Stick to my language-learning schedule. Japanese phrases don’t memorize themselves!
-
Long-Term Goals:
- Build consistency in health and fitness. No more “I’ll start Monday.” Monday is today!
- Keep growing my skills in tech and electronics. These aren’t just hobbies; they’re stepping stones.
- Stay financially focused—investing and learning more about money isn’t glamorous, but Future Me will thank me.
A Cheeky Reminder to Myself
The flu may have knocked me down, but it didn’t knock me out. Sure, my start wasn’t Insta-perfect, but when is life ever picture-perfect? The key is to keep moving forward, even if it’s messy.
So, here’s to rebooting 2025 with a healthier mindset, a flexible plan, and just enough cheekiness to laugh at my own missteps. After all, every good story has a plot twist, right?
Until next time,
Let’s make it count (again).
